Text, or SMS, messages have the potential to play an important role in your salon or spa business. Text messages have a 98% open rate, with the majority of the recipients reading it within three minutes! Take advantage of text messages in these four methods to increase your revenue:

Remind Clients to Book Appointments

Your clients are busy and often juggle a heavy schedule. As they leave your salon, they may not know their future availability when you ask them to book their next appointment.

Send a quick thank you via SMS the day after they come in and remind them to check their calendar and book soon. If you don’t hear from them in the next few weeks, you can send another text message without seeming too aggressive.

Reduce No Shows

Clients not showing up for their appointments can be costly for a salon or spa as they create a gap in your schedule that is difficult to fill. Reduce their frequency by confirming appointments with a text message.

Show your clients that they matter! Keep track of details like birthdays, anniversaries, and last-in dates. Craft a special message targeted to them. For your other marketing messages, ensure that they are relevant to your audience.

If you provide a special offer or announce a product arrival, filter recipients to include only those clients who have previously purchased the applicable service or product. Occasionally you can include other clients as well to make them aware of other products or services, but be careful not to annoy them with multiple irrelevant messages.
