With the current trend being for more people to pamper themselves and take a vested interest in how they appear to others, beauty salons are experiencing unprecedented growth. The number or salons in the country has grown making it one of the most lucrative businesses even in today's tough economic times. In order for a salon manager to stay on top of the business she needs to be able to keep track of everything from the appointments and employees hours to the inventory of necessary supplies. In many salons the beauticians are not in reality employees, many of them are self employed and pay a fee to have access to the facilities. Keeping track of who is and who is not supposed to be available on a particular day can be very difficult and the old fashioned way of writing it down simply does not work when you are the salon manager in a very busy salon. It is far too easy to write a note on a piece of paper and then lose it.
There was a time when an appointment book that sat on the desk worked, but today you have too many clients who have special needs and wants along with wanting the same stylist every time they visit. The paper log book can soon become a mess of changes and you will also need to keep a separate book of names, addresses and personal information that the salon manager keeps in a safe place. This system again worked well when you had a good solid customer base but as the numbers continue to grow it is no longer going to be enough and information along with appointments will get lost in the shuffle. Every salon carries a relatively large inventory of supplies that they use for their customers, whether it is shampoo, conditioner or hair spray it all has to be accounted for. Then there is the merchandise that is there for the customer to purchase and take home to use on a regular basis.
The salon manager must be able to keep up with the inventory on a regular basis so that she can reorder when stock is running low. As the number of different products has continued to grow, it has become more complicated trying to keep up with what needs to be reordered. Just a few years ago the simple pen and paper was sufficient to take care of all of this and the salon manager could stay on top of it all. Today however it takes a lot more time than most managers have to try and stay on top of everything. What today's salons need is computer software like that available from Salon Software. Their software is designed to help the salon manager keep every aspect of the salon under complete control. This software will handle everything from inventory bookkeeping and is made to be very easy to use and is being used all across the country in thousands of salons and spas.
